India Chapter

To earn your Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential through the ACFE, there are several key steps to follow. Joining the ACFE India Chapter adds an extra layer of support and networking to enhance your journey. Here’s how you can get started:

Step 1: Meet the Eligibility Requirements

To become a CFE, you must have a minimum of two years of professional experience in a field related to fraud detection or deterrence, such as accounting, auditing, criminology, or law. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is also required, but experience can sometimes substitute for education.

Step 2: Join the ACFE India Chapter

Tap into your local chapter. We offer CFE exam training to our members, access to resources, and mentorship. Joining the India Chapter offers localized support, events, and networking opportunities with peers who understand the unique challenges of fraud prevention in the region and will provide a support system as you prepare and take the CFE exam.

Step 3: Join the Global ACFE community

Becoming a member of the ACFE is a crucial step. As it is USA based, the exam documentations and proctoring will be done through them. As a CFE and member of the ACFE India Chapter, you’ll be part of both a global network of over 90,000 fraud professionals and a local community that understands the specific challenges in India. This dual membership provides unparalleled opportunities for professional growth, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.

Step 4: Prepare for the CFE Exam

The CFE Exam covers four key areas: Financial Transactions & Fraud Schemes, Law, Investigation, and Fraud Prevention & Deterrence. You can prepare using the ACFE’s official CFE Exam Prep Course, which is tailored to help you master these essential topics. The India Chapter also offers training and mentorship to support your exam preparation.

Step 5: - Appear and Pass the CFE Exam

Once certified, CFEs must complete 20 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) annually to stay current with industry developments. Joining the India Chapter helps you fulfill these requirements through paid/free local seminars, webinars, and other educational events that keep you updated on the latest in fraud prevention.

These steps ensure that you not only earn the CFE credential but also maintain it with the ongoing support of both the global ACFE organization and the ACFE India Chapter.
